Colonial Christmas wreaths

While in Williamsburg, we saw some really incredible and different Christmas wreaths that I myself am dying to re-create. Interestingly, the Colonists did not decorate their homes like you’d think they would have for Christmastime! Decorating the house, Christmas trees (or ‘Tenanbaums’ as they were called in Germany), and hanging wreaths did not become a tradition until the mid 1800s in America. Regardless, the houses were festively decorated with pretty green wreaths and candles.

There’s probably lots of ways to make wreaths of your own similar to these at a fraction of the price stores would charge; I’m going to try using natural items such as pine cones and dried fruit slices to get a similar look!
